Do you remember all those rumors about the revival of the old Pontiac brand? Many third-party websites and fan blogs wrote about the new Firebird and Trans Am models, and how are they going to be released to the market receiving a brand-new design. Well, now we may be one step closer to the truth with the release of the 2017 Pontiac Trans Am 455 Super Duty.
First of all, this is not the official car made by Pontiac. No, Pontiac didn’t come back, and probably won’t come back ever. However, thanks to the guys from TransAm Depot, who use Chevrolet Camaro to create the unique, custom-made Trans Am models, only 50 lucky guys will have the chance to own and drive the revived 455 Super Duty. Its production started on May 1st, after it made a debut at the 2017 NY Auto Show this April.

2017 Trans Am 455 Super Duty Specs, 0-60
According to TransAm Worldwide’s website, the 2017 Pontiac Trans Am 455 Super Duty is such a powerful muscle car. It is powered by a supercharged 7.4-liter V-8 engine with modified 3.0-inch exhaust, cold air intake and ceramic coated headers, producing a total of 1000 horsepower and 1046 pound-feet of torque, making it more powerful than the 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon, which can hit 0-60 mph in 2.3 seconds.
At this moment, we don’t have info on the 455’s 0-60 acceleration time. As soon as we get the info, we will let you guys know. However, we do know that TransAm Depot’s team wants to release the most powerful American muscle car in history. They really want to beat the Demon’s 0-60 time, we believe it is possible.

2017 Pontiac Trans Am 455 Super Duty Design
As we already mentioned, the 2017 Trans Am 455 Super Duty is built upon the sixth-generation Chevy Camaro and GM’s improved Alpha platform. The car’s exterior is both modern and retro at the same time, featuring sleek body lines with classic elements.
Almost every body part has been replaced with lighter carbon elements, in order to lower the total weight, and further increase the performance. If you take a look at the photos, you will notice the famous flaming chicken decal on the revised hood, and recognizable split grille with Pontiac logo. All the bumpers, headlights, taillights and spoilers have been replaced as well. There is also a choice between the regular coupe with standard roof and the optional T-top with glass panels.
Interior received lots of changes too, featuring custom leather seats with embroidered head rests, lots of 455 and Trans Am-inspired graphics, and a retro-styled dashboard with vintage climate vents. The gear shifter is also replaced.
