The 2018 Volkswagen Arteon was presented at an unusual art exhibition, rather than a usual promotion, just like the Arteon is not just a regular car, but rather a special one. Symbolics was clear. Nothing less and nothing more, but pure art, the new VW Arteon is presented and exhibited as an innovative artifact, in the category of unreal and impossible. A bold move towards a luxury premium class was clearly seen. Rejecting conservatism, Arteon found itself in the embrace of art and innovation.
During the “Self-Portrait of the Future” campaign, whose topic is the encounter of the upcoming technologies and art, five talented photographers had the chance to spend one day with Arteon, acknowledge it and make immortal through their lenses. This is also a great example of giving sincere support for Volkswagen’s art and space to the creators to express their talent through a cult brand. It is precisely these experiences that become its visual identity.
Numerous distinguished guests and business partners, for the first time, saw Arteon, taking part in the emergence of something new and unique.
Now, let us see what makes this sedan so elegant and unique.
As for the exterior design, the 2018 Volkswagen Arteon does not impress only at first glance – aerodynamic profile, striking design of the rear end, and particular attention is drawn to the side windows without frames, which are delighted with special elegance. Those who order the R-Line equipment package will receive additional elements that emphasize the exterior dynamics, such as the recognizable “R-Line” logo, the C mark on the front bumper and 20-inch alloy wheels.
Future owners will experience the uncompromising appearance of the new Arteon as soon as they enter the vehicle. They’ll be able to enjoy the serially available equipment that offers the ultimate driving feel, such as comfortable seats, high quality materials and spaciousness along the entire vehicle.
The 2018 Volkswagen Arteon is powered by a BiTurbo 2.0-liter I-4 diesel engine that is able to deliver about 270 horsepower and 280 lb-ft of torque. All this power is sent to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The car rides on the VW’s transverse MQB platform. Of course, there will be an optional 4MOTION all-wheel drive model as well, that will be powered by a 2.0-liter TSI petrol engine delivering 280 horsepower. You will also get a 7-speed DSG transmission, electric locking of the XDS differential and adaptive control of the DCC. This will allow the Arteon to reach the speed of 62mph in 5.6 seconds.
This beautiful sedan made its official debut at the 2017 Geneva Auto Show, as well as the already mentioned art exhibition. It is already available for sale in some countries, like the United States, but in the rest of the world it will arrive by the end of the year. Estimated price for the Volkswagen Arteon 2018 is about $37,000 for the base model.
The design of the new Arteon leaves a lasting impression. But can someone who cannot see can feel it?This question was answered by blind photographer Pete Eckert. His vision of the car proves that Arteon is the beauty of all senses.
Pete Eckert is a blind photographer, born with vision, but remained completely blind during his lifetime. He uses his other senses: sound, touch and memory. With these senses he makes images in his mind. It uses a long exposure and colored lights to create unique effects around Arteon. Impressive results speak for themselves.
Here are the first impressions by people that had the chance to see the new sedan in person.
Some of the competitors of the new VW Arteon are: Audi A4, BMW 320i, Acura TLX, Cadillac ATS, Infiniti Q50, Buick Regal, Volvo S60, Mazda 6, and Lincoln MKZ.
