This is the new Toyota GR HV Sports Concept, a hybrid sports coupe which you can enjoy driving without worrying about environmental pollution. The Japanese automaker claims that this concept model is designed with the older Toyota Gazoo Racing TS050 hybrid model in mind, but it does resemble the Toyota GT86 models. In addition to taking care of environmental protection, it also meets the need for dynamic driving.
As we have already mentioned, the Toyota GR HV Sports Concept resembles the Toyota 86, just with a little bit different exterior and interior styling. It is longer, lower and wider, thanks to the new platform, and possesses a targa top. Does it represent the potential look of the future Supra? Maybe yes, maybe not, only the time will tell. The black paint job really stands out and suits it, outlining the awesome LED headlights at the front.
We are impressed with the cockpit that resembles the interior of combat aircraft. Perhaps the best element resembling combat planes is a red gear lever with a lid that, when picked up, has the ignition key. It’s the coolest gear lever in existence. The red cover is also engraved with a transmission rate distribution.
The Toyota GR HV Sports Concept is an automatic vehicle, but as you can notice in the photo above, the sifter has an H-pattern engraved on its red cover. This implies that this car is capable of being driven in a 6-speed manual mode. The weird thing is that you can shift gears without needing a clutch. You can switch between automatic and manual mode simply by pressing the button.
We don’t have any info on the engine. We only know that it’s mounted at the front but sends all of its power to the rear wheels, while the battery is mounted in the middle.
